The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pheonix takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
It looks like Jonny Pheonix has been cut.
Pheonix tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dawson swivels and escapes.
Pheonix shoots for a takedown but Dawson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pheonix tries to clinch there but Dawson circles away.
Dawson tries to clinch up but Pheonix circles away and keeps his distance.
Dawson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dawson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pheonix tries to pull guard but Dawson won't allow it.
Jesse Dawson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Pheonix.
Dawson is trying to break the clinch but Pheonix has him pressed against the cage.
Pheonix breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Dawson.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dawson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Pheonix looks gassed!
Dawson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dawson fails to land with a series of punches.
Dawson lands with a right and another and another! Pheonix is in big trouble! Dawson lands again and this time it's lights out for Pheonix! A quality knockout there for Dawson.
