Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kai Omega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kai Omega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charlie Day!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Day shoots in and bounces Omega off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Omega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Day thows a big elbow that misses.

Omega is looking for a triangle but Day pushes his legs off easily.
Omega keeping moving, preventing Day from controlling successfully.
Omega can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Day controls the pace.
Day postures up.
Day tries to stand but Omega is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Day scores with a three punch combo!
Omega misses with a takedown attempt

and Day decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Omega's guard.

Day stands and steps away. Omega gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Day counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Day breaks the clinch.
Donk. Day catches Omega right on the button with a cross.

and Day holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Omega. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Omega is breathing heavily.

Day gets control of Omega's arms and successfully pulls guard. Day will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Day wants to stand up but Omega is controlling him.

Omega trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Day has Omega pulled in close to control his posture.

Day has his feet on Omega's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Day gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Day is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Omega drops back looking for a leg! Day is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Day manages to kick Omega off! Omega jumps back into Day's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Omega tries for a takedown but Day circles away easily
and Day counters with a two punch combo.
Day connects with a solid leg kick.
Day lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Omega circles away quickly and effectively.
A nice combination there by Day.
A nice leg kick lands there from Day.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Day is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Omega gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Day dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Omega clinches up with Day and pushes him back against the cage.

Omega manages to break the clinch.

Omega decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Day is refusing to be controlled, as Omega sits in half guard.
Omega passes to side control.

Day throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Day shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day gets to his feet - Omega follows without any prompting.
Day fails in his attempt to clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Omega drives through with a takedown into guard.
Day wants to get back to his feet but Omega passes into half guard.
Day pushes Omega off looking to stand but Omega dives back in and keeps control.
Omega missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Charlie Day has got the better of the ground game so far.
Day tries to kick Omega off but Omega keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Omega wants to work for an arm triangle but Day is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Omega throwing shots but Day is blocking nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Day misses the shot to the body.

Omega drives through and clinches with Day against the cage.
Omega jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Day walks away with a smile on his face. Omega gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Omega doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Day counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Day moves into the clinch.
Omega tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Day just stands there and leans against the cage.
Day goes for a takedown attempt but Omega pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Day counters with a shoot takedown. Omega fights it but they end up in guard.

Omega controls Day momentarily but Day frees himself.

Day wants to stand but Omega has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Day wants to pass the guard but Omega is keeping the position.
Omega keeping moving, preventing Day from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Omega misses with a takedown attempt
and Day counters with a nice body kick.

Day tries to keep at a distance but Omega has taken the fight into the clinch.
Day tries to score a body lock takedown but Omega shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Day is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Omega wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Day pulls guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Day holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Day swats away the attempt to clinch by Omega.
Day stuffs the takedown.
Day circles away from the clinch attempt.
Day wants to clinch up but Omega keeps it at a distance.
Omega fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Day lands a slapping body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omega tries a head kick but it misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Omega clinches but Day breaks the clinch

and Day counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Omega is working an open guard so Day takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Day throws a series of punches but Omega avoids them all with ease.
Omega tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Day drives through with a takedown into guard.
Day stopping the sweep attempt from Omega.
Day controlling from the top position.

Day decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Omega, up you get!

An inside leg kick lands from Day.
Day throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Omega stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Omega. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Day wants a takedown but no success here.

Omega jumps into guard, dragging Day to the mat.
Day prevents Omega from getting back to his feet.
Day is looking to stand up but Omega won't let him.
Omega trying to keep a closed guard but Day is proving a slippery customer.
Omega wants to stand but Day is controlling the position.

Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Omega is keeping the position for now.

Day stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Omega fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Day closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Omega to the mat! Omega manages to get full guard.
Omega wants to sweep but no luck.

Day stands and steps away. Omega gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Day throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

No joy there for Omega, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Day throws a push kick but Omega slaps the foot to one side.
Omega misses with a takedown attempt

and Day decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Omega's guard.

Charlie Day is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kai Omega has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Charlie Day comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Day has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
