Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simbo Klice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus McKenna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klice comes to the cage accompanied by THE D.O.C. - it's funky enough. Gus McKenna has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Simbo Klice's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simbo Klice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Gus McKenna!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klice throws a sloppy body shot
and McKenna counters with a right hand to the body.

Klice drops down looking for a counter takedown but McKenna sprawls and moves away.
McKenna connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

McKenna has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Klice is landing a low percentage of strikes.

McKenna lands with a nice combination. Klice backs away looking to recover.
Horrible takedown attempt by Klice or perhaps it was just good defense by McKenna, which made it look bad.
McKenna misses with a leg kick.
Klice throws a right and a left that both miss.
McKenna stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McKenna changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
McKenna throws a leg kick which misses Klice's front leg but catches the back leg as Klice tries to avoid it.
Klice tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Klice is looking to clinch but McKenna is avoiding it.

Klice tries to keep at a distance but McKenna has taken the fight into the clinch.
Klice changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McKenna fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gus McKenna is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McKenna works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like Gus McKenna has been cut.

Despite the aggression on McKenna's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Klice goes for a double leg but McKenna avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McKenna continues to drive forward.
Klice displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McKenna throws out the jab.

This has been an exciting period of action!

McKenna connects with a body shot that sends Klice's belly button to the back.
McKenna throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Klice on the side of the head.

Klice was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McKenna lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Klice has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Klice and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for McKenna. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

McKenna lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McKenna holds on and takes a little breather.
