Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bikram Kunwar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sammy Gravano! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Gravano, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kunwar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gravano sprawls well. Gravano wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kunwar gets slowly back to his feet. Sammy Gravano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kunwar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gravano as he jumps to the side. Gravano misses with a head kick.
Kunwar feinted with a counter takedown. Gravano thows a leg kick but Kunwar checks it and Kunwar counters with a single leg into guard. Gravano didn't expect that. Kunwar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kunwar stays in close to Gravano's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kunwar tries to free his leg and advance position but Gravano is retaining full guard. Kunwar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gravano works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kunwar pushing down on Gravano's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Kunwar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gravano is just riding it out for now. Kunwar eventually gives up the hold.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kunwar seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Gravano is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
