PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Predator Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Jiu-Jitsu. Nathan Silver will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Predator Burns!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 20 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan Silver!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Silver throws a lazy head kick

and Burns counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Silver pushes Burns off and gets back to his feet.

Burns fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silver to the ground. Burns is now in Silver's guard.

Silver wriggles free and stands up.
Nathan Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A bone on bone clash there as Silver blocks the leg kick.
Silver looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Burns moves out of range as Silver throws a body kick.
Silver swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Silver wants to clinch.
Burns fails with a takedown attempt.

Burns looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nice shot lands for Burns.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Burns, as that shot connected.
Silver scores with a jab to the jaw.
Burns fails with the takedown
and Silver counters with a stiff right hand.
Silver looks for the body kick but Burns saw that one coming.
Burns drops down looking for a counter takedown but Silver sprawls and moves away.
Silver throws a hook to the side of Burns's head but Burns sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Silver throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Burns looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Silver swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Burns sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Silver fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Burns looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silver on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Silver needs to keep his hands up - Burns had a free shot at his head there.

Silver lands a nice hook to Burns's body. Burns takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Burns blocks a jab.
Silver tries to clinch there but Burns circles away.
Burns attempts a counter takedown but Silver avoids it well and moves away.
Silver misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Burns was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Silver throws a hook but Burns avoids it easily.
Burns misses with a low kick.
Silver tries to land a front kick but Burns steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Burns tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Silver needs to keep his hands up - Burns had a free shot at his head there.
Silver dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Burns goes for a double leg but Silver avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silver continues to drive forward.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Silver manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Silver seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silver gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silver's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Silver gets to his feet - Burns follows without any prompting.
Burns lands with a nice body kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burns moves out of range as Silver throws a body kick.
Burns is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Silver bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Silver throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burns defending well as Silver loads up on a big left hand.

Silver has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burns misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Silver working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Burns throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Silver escapes and throws Burns's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Silver is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burns knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well Silver has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Predator Burns was interviewed post fight and said 'It's ok, i'm home.'.
