Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Mr Ward and Gaia Ky Jr. Mr Ward has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 4 losses; Mr Ward! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Gaia Ky Jr! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Ky Jr misses with a takedown attempt and Ward decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ky Jr's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ward (2) vs (0) Ky Jr Ward trying to control but Ky Jr is working from the bottom. Ky Jr wants to control the position but Ward says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Ward's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. It looks like Ky Jr might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ward is refusing to be controlled, as Ky Jr sits in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ward takes the fight on points by 10 to 5. Mr Ward decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. In defeat, Gaia Ky Jr stepped up to the mic, saying 'I will be back stronger, I'm humble in defeat.'. |
