Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Foles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
54 - 29 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethelbart Takahashi! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foles closes the distance and clinches. Foles blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Foles misses with a knee to the head. Foles lands a nice elbow. Foles throws a knee to the head but misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Foles. Takahashi lands a shoulder strike. Takahashi swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Nice elbow from Foles. Takahashi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Foles lands a right hand. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Takahashi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Foles lands with a short shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Foles trying to land knees to the body.
Takahashi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Foles takes one to the chin there. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Foles. Takahashi throws a sloppy body shot
and Foles counters with a nice low kick that buckles Takahashi's knee momentarily. Foles throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Takahashi throws an overhand right that lands on Foles's shoulder, as Foles tries to avoid the shot. Takahashi throws a leg kick letting Foles counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foles just misses with a punch to the body.
Foles tries to clinch up but Takahashi circles away and keeps his distance. Takahashi misses with a straight left. Foles doesn't manage to clinch there - Takahashi circles away.
Takahashi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Foles bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Foles is looking to clinch. Takahashi misses the jab. A slapping body kick lands there for Takahashi. Foles tries to move into range but Takahashi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Foles misses with a straight left. Takahashi cracks Foles with an open hand slap. Ethelbart Takahashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takahashi scores with a kick to the body.
The fighters circling - Foles throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Takahashi sends Foles crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Takahashi is motioning to the referee to let Foles up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Foles is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Takahashi walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Foles drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Takahashi swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Foles's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ethelbart Takahashi! After winning the bout, Ethelbart Takahashi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Nick Foles was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back!'.
