Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Nimez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fred Duffy!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Duffy misses with a left hand
and Nimez counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nimez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nimez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Duffy lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Nimez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nimez is looking to clinch but Duffy is avoiding it.
Nimez moves away from the strike by Duffy.
The fighters circling - Duffy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nimez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duffy tries to score a body lock takedown but Nimez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Nimez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nimez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Duffy.

and Nimez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nimez.
Nimez is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Nimez decides to pull guard.
Duffy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Nimez wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Duffy manages to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duffy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Duffy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nimez's head.

Nimez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nimez tries to get out of the position.
Nimez tries to get to full guard but Duffy has control of the leg.
Duffy works his foot free and advances to mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Duffy controlling the pace for now.
It looks like Duffy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Duffy throws a poor cross that misses
and Nimez counters with a two punch combo.
Nimez ducks under a wild hook from Duffy.
No luck for Nimez with that takedown attempt.
Duffy misses with an uppercut.
Duffy throws a hook to the side of Nimez's head but Nimez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
An attempted straight right counter from Nimez misses the target.

Nimez clinches.
Duffy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Nimez manages to break the clinch.
Nimez throws a head kick but Duffy moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nimez shoots in looking for a takedown. Duffy tries to sprawl out of it but Nimez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duffy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Duffy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nimez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Duffy moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Let's hope that Duffy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Duffy is continuing to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The adventures of Duffy the control monster continue. Boring.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nimez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Duffy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fred Duffy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Juan Nimez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Duffy misses the body punch
and Nimez counters with a nice uppercut.
Nimez avoids the body shot from Duffy.
Duffy tries to clinch up but Nimez circles away and keeps his distance.
Nimez feinted with a counter takedown.
Nimez moves in looking to clinch but Duffy pushes him off.

Duffy walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nimez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Duffy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Nimez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fred Duffy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duffy tries to clinch but Nimez moves out of range.

Duffy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nimez wants to get back to his feet but Duffy is dominant here and he's now got Nimez's back!
Nimez avoids the strikes from Duffy.
Duffy has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Nimez's body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Duffy is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Nimez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Nimez for a finish.

What can Nimez do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Duffy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Juan Nimez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fred Duffy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Duffy is persistently looking for the submission but Nimez is defending it well.

Fred Duffy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Duffy winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
