The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanada lands with an uppercut that bounces Nerlinger off the ropes and back into range.
Nerlinger lands a head shot.
Nerlinger looks for the body kick but Sanada saw that one coming.
Nerlinger fails in his attempt to clinch.
A jab from Nerlinger misses.
Sanada doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Sanada swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sanada tests Nerlinger's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sanada lands a nice looking body shot.
Nerlinger moves into the clinch successfully.

Nice takedown defense from Sanada. No joy for Nerlinger on that attempt.

It looks like Karl Nerlinger has been cut.
A punch lands to the side of Nerlinger 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nerlinger fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sanada moves out of range of the strikes.
Sanada connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Sanada lands a right hook to the body.
Sanada throws a nice looking combination but Nerlinger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nerlinger shoots for a takedown but Sanada saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nerlinger is breathing heavily.
Nerlinger has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nerlinger there as he acknowledges the shot.
Sanada digs a good body shot into Nerlinger's ribs.

Sanada looks to score with a jab to the body but Nerlinger is just out of range.
Sanada swats away the attempt to clinch by Nerlinger.
Sanada throws out a powerful jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nerlinger tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sanada sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nerlinger somewhat.
It seemed like Sanada was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Sanada has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karl Nerlinger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nerlinger thows a leg kick but Sanada checks it
and Sanada counters with a straight right hand.
Sanada moves out of range as Nerlinger throws a body kick.
Sanada jabs Nerlinger right on the nose. Nerlinger blinks but takes it well.

Nerlinger on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Sanada defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nerlinger.
A nice side step and Sanada releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Donk. Sanada catches Nerlinger right on the button with a cross.
Sanada cracks Nerlinger with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sanada has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Nerlinger to stand back up!
Nerlinger is rocked!

Nerlinger throws a body punch but Sanada moves out of range.
Oh Nerlinger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sanada ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nerlinger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nerlinger seems to have got his legs back now.
Sanada sends Nerlinger crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sanada is motioning to the referee to let Nerlinger up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Sanada tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nerlinger was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanada.
Nerlinger pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sanada cracks Nerlinger with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Nerlinger backs away from a small jab... but Sanada lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Nerlinger crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Sanada with a spectacular finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Masa Sanada!
