Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek Jacobs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Colton! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Colton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jacobs sprawls well initially but Colton persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jacobs is trying to get back to full guard. Colton working the head and body with strikes. Jacobs trying to control but Colton postures up.
Colton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jacobs is not content to let Colton control the position. Jacobs taking some punishment here, with Colton in his half guard. Colton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Colton is looking to take a break and control but Jacobs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Colton controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Colton working the head and body with strikes. Jacobs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nice strikes from Colton there. Colton scoring with strikes to the body and head. Jacobs looks like he's trying to stand up.
Colton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jacobs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Colton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Colton working over Jacobs with some ground and pound. Jacobs looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jacobs wants to control but Colton is keeping busy.
Colton prevents Jacobs from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Colton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jacobs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Colton stalling. Colton lands strikes from half guard. Jacobs has hold of Colton's hands but Colton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Colton lands a big elbow - Jacobs is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Colton!
