Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Monty Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minoru Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hudson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hudson tries to close the distance and clinch but Yamamoto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hudson misses with the combination.
Yamamoto tests Hudson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hudson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yamamoto, pushing him back against the cage.
Yamamoto wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hudson wants to break free but Yamamoto has control.
Yamamoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamamoto misses with a double jab.
Yamamoto swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Yamamoto cracks Hudson on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Hudson falls backwards against the cage. Yamamoto follows up with more strikes that drop Hudson to his knees. Yamamoto keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Hudson! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Minoru Yamamoto!
Minoru Yamamoto was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
