PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Gonzalez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Taylor's head.
Gonzalez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Taylor paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Taylor counters with a one-two to the body.

Taylor fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gonzalez sprawls well initially but Taylor persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gonzalez is trying to get back to full guard.
Taylor wants to stand up but Gonzalez has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Taylor uses his free foot to push down on Gonzalez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gonzalez.
Gonzalez is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taylor is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gonzalez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gonzalez looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Taylor is persistently looking for the submission but Gonzalez is defending it well.
Taylor looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Taylor slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Taylor working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Gonzalez is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Taylor has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Gonzalez taps out!
