Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Costa!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy shoots in looking for a takedown. Costa tries to sprawl out of it but Duffy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Costa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Duffy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Costa is fending him off so far but Duffy persists. Nope, Costa circles away and we're back to standing.

Duffy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Costa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Duffy is fighting to break Costa's control of his arms but Costa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Duffy pushes down on Costa's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duffy slips a nice elbow through Costa's hands, connecting with Costa's forehead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duffy trying to control the pace.

Costa looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Duffy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Costa flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Costa desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Duffy not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Duffy is thwarting Costa's attempts to control the position.
Duffy is looking to stall here but Costa recovers full guard.
Costa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


That's three minutes gone in the round.

Costa is trying for a kimura here. Duffy looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Costa wins by kimura!
