Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gil Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Phantom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gil Wong has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gil Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Phantom!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phantom swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Phantom misses with a lunging right hand

and Wong counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wong is thwarting Phantom's attempts to control the position.
Wong content to control rather than advance.
Phantom keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Phantom is trying to maintain the position but Wong is very close to passing his half guard.
Wong throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wong in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wong decides to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wong is defended easily by Phantom.
Phantom misses with a kick to the body

and Wong counters with a nice double leg into side control. Phantom won't be happy with that.

Wong tries for a kimura but Phantom is defending well.
Phantom tries to bench press Wong off him but Wong keeps the position.
Phantom struggling a bit here.
Wong staying calm.
Wong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wong seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Phantom for as long as he can get away with.
Phantom tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Wong takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Wong breaks from Phantom's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Wong controlling his opponent.
Phantom wants to hold on but Wong pushes him away.
Phantom really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phantom trying desperately to get to his feet.
Wong with a couple of short strikes.
Wong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wong controlling from the full mount.
Wong lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Phantom hang on?
Wong sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Phantom is desperately trying to improve his position but Wong has a good base and remains in mount.

Wong looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Phantom tries to control the position but Wong now has his back.

Wong has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Phantom has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Wong controls the position.
Wong will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Phantom rolls, trying to escape but Wong keeps control of the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Phantom trying to control the hands but Wong won't let him.
Wong lands a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gil Wong dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wong tests Phantom's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Phantom tries to bum rush Wong with a series of wild strikes but Wong uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A quick step to the side and Wong tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phantom shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wong eats them both and turns towards Phantom to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Phantom throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wong counters with a takedown into side control.
Phantom wants to get back to his feet but Wong is dominant here and he's now got Phantom's back!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wong is not going to allow Phantom to sit and survive in this position.
Phantom is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Phantom is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Wong.
You can see the frustration on Phantom's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Wong really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Phantom.

Phantom is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Phantom just trying to survive but Wong is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Wong has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Phantom is defending well but eventually Wong manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Phantom has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gil Wong!
