The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngannou tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Heavyweight paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ngannou throws a shot to the body.
Heavyweight tries to bum rush Ngannou with a series of wild strikes but Ngannou uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Heavyweight throws a one two combo.
Some wild striking there from Heavyweight.
Heavyweight throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ngannou.
Heavyweight looks winded!

Ngannou gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Heavyweight working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Ngannou is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Heavyweight won't allow Ngannou to sweep him here.

Ngannou wants to get back to his feet but Heavyweight is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ngannou is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Heavyweight can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ngannou content to stall in guard here.
Ngannou postures up in Heavyweight's guard and throws a big left but Heavyweight blocks it.

Ngannou looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heavyweight is looking to stand up but Ngannou isn't so interested in that idea.
Ngannou not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ngannou is looking to work some ground and pound but Heavyweight has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Heavyweight looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ngannou circles away from the clinch attempt
and Ngannou counters with a thumping low kick.
Ngannou works Heavyweight's body with a nice hook.

Heavyweight on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ngannou. Ngannou obviously looking to wear him down.
Ngannou thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Heavyweight if he has to take too many more of those.
Ngannou tries to bum rush Heavyweight with a series of wild strikes but Heavyweight uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Giant Heavyweight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ngannou lands a high kick!
Heavyweight tries to land a front kick but Ngannou steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ngannou throws a head kick but Heavyweight moves out of range.

Ngannou lands a left and a right that send Heavyweight crashing to the mat, dazed. Ngannou thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Giant Heavyweight has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ngannou bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Heavyweight is rocked!
Heavyweight gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
