Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Cooper swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Richard Cooper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cooper connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cooper moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Cooper misses the jab. Cooper takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Cooper throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cooper connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Cooper is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Murphy. Cooper throws a shot from downtown. Murphy moves away and avoids it. A decent looking cross lands there for Cooper. Cooper looks to land a right hand but Murphy moved out of range. Cooper swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Murphy. Murphy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Murphy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cooper tries to avoid it but Murphy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cooper to the ground. Cooper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cooper scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper thows a body shot but no joy. Murphy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cooper throws out the jab. Cooper missing with a left hand there. Murphy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Cooper connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Murphy slips a jab and a cross from Cooper.
Cooper lands with a right hand. Cooper is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Cooper tests Murphy's chin there with a solid looking shot. Cooper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Murphy. Cooper dips to his left and cracks Murphy with an uppercut! Nice shot lands for Cooper. Cooper throws a shot from downtown. Murphy moves away and avoids it. Cooper throws a low kick but Murphy avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper throws out a powerful jab. Murphy shoots in for a takedown but Cooper shows good takedown defense. Murphy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cooper. Cooper throws an overhand right that lands on Murphy's shoulder, as Murphy tries to avoid the shot. Cooper dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Cooper lands with a nice combination. Murphy backs away looking to recover. Cooper lands a right hook to the body.
Murphy walks into a straight right hand from Cooper. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Murphy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cooper tries to avoid it but Murphy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cooper to the ground. Cooper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Richard Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Murphy. Murphy looks gassed! Cooper shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cooper showed some decent athleticism there. Murphy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Murphy wants to improve his position but Cooper is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cooper is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Cooper working the head and body with strikes. Cooper lands strikes from half guard. Cooper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cooper landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Cooper seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Cooper prevents Murphy from improving his position. Murphy has hold of Cooper's hands but Cooper slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Murphy taking some punishment here, with Cooper in his half guard. Murphy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cooper tries to pass to full mount but Murphy defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooper passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murphy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cooper looking to finish Murphy with some ground and pound. This is bad for Murphy! A nice elbow there by Cooper. Cooper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Murphy is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Murphy tries to reverse the position but Cooper maintains control. Cooper cracks Murphy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Murphy is still in real trouble! Can Cooper finish him? Cooper lands a big shot there that rocks Murphy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Murphy takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Cooper's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Cooper!
