Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Connected !
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Connected is able to avoid easily.

Hernandez shoots in and gets a takedown into Connected 's guard.
Connected looking for a sweep. Not yet Connected , not yet.
Hernandez wants to pass the guard but Connected is keeping the position.
Connected controlling Hernandez's posture.
Connected not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Connected is looking for a triangle but Hernandez pushes his legs off easily.
Hernandez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Connected looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Connected drives through and clinches with Hernandez against the cage.

Connected pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Connected works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Hernandez tries to strike from the bottom.
Connected is pushing down on Hernandez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hernandez is fighting to maintain full guard but Connected has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connected throwing shots but Hernandez is blocking nicely.

Connected is looking to work some ground and pound but Hernandez has wrist control.

Hernandez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Connected doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Connected manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Connected darts in and clinches Hernandez up against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Connected breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Connected scores with a hook to the body. Hernandez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Connected tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hernandez smiles and moves away.

Connected stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Connected wants it to stay on the feet.
Connected goes for a double leg but Hernandez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hernandez continues to drive forward.

Hernandez is trying to drag Connected to the mat but Connected just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Connected manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Connected gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Connected pushes Hernandez off looking to stand but Hernandez dives back in and keeps control.

Hernandez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jim Connected has got the better of the ground game so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rodrigo Hernandez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Connected jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hernandez walks away with a smile on his face. Connected gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Connected throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Connected tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hernandez swivels and escapes.
Connected fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hernandez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hernandez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hernandez shoots in but no luck this time.

Connected shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hernandez as he jumps to the side.

Connected is trying to stand back up but Hernandez is controlling him
Connected regains full guard. Nicely done.
Connected pulls Hernandez in close to prevent any damage.
Hernandez wants to control from the top but Connected keeps moving.

Connected is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Connected has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Connected looking for a sweep. Not yet Connected , not yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hernandez throws a head kick that misses.
Hernandez fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Connected is out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rodrigo Hernandez.
I think Hernandez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
