Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Burris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeremy Sparks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lanny Burris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Sparks!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sparks drives through with a takedown into Burris's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Sparks throws a head kick but Burris moves out of range.
As Sparks looks to move away, Burris throws a big counter combo but Sparks just gets out of the way.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burris is refusing to be controlled, as Sparks sits in half guard.
Sparks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lanny Burris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Sparks.

Burris has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sparks clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Sparks is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Burris gets his way!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Burris connects with a nice short shot to Sparks's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Burris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
