Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Nevzlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez comes into the arena with Where is My Mind? by Pixies blaring out of the sound system. Sergey Nevzlin looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergey Nevzlin! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nevzlin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed right hand from Sanchez misses the target. Sanchez misses with a wild combination.
Sanchez scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Sergey Nevzlin has been cut. Sanchez is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Sanchez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Sanchez is looking to chop away at Nevzlin's legs. A little jabbing left from Nevzlin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Sanchez throws a right and a left that Nevzlin avoids nicely. Nevzlin takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Nevzlin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sanchez misses the jab. Nevzlin appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Nevzlin throws a jab when Sanchez was well out of range. A slow jab from Nevzlin misses its intended target. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nevzlin throws a wild body kick that Sanchez sees coming a mile off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nevzlin blocks a jab. Nice uppercut lands for Sanchez. That snapped Nevzlin's head back.
Nevzlin misses with a looping left. Sanchez closes the distance and clinches up with Nevzlin, looking for a takedown. Sanchez pushes Nevzlin against the cage but Nevzlin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sanchez works the jab nicely. Nevzlin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Sanchez digs a good hook to Nevzlin's body.
Sanchez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A combination from Nevzlin does no damage. Sanchez wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Nevzlin lands with a nice body punch. Sergey Nevzlin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sanchez uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Nevzlin has time to react. Sanchez throws an overhand right that lands on Nevzlin's shoulder, as Nevzlin tries to avoid the shot. Sanchez takes one on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sanchez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nevzlin swivels and escapes. Nevzlin throws a lazy right hand but Sanchez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Sanchez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nevzlin avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab lands there for Sanchez. Sanchez lands a jab to the nose. Nevzlin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sanchez is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Nevzlin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sanchez lands with a hook. Nevzlin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Nevzlin has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sanchez finds it's way round the side to connect with Nevzlin's head. Sanchez misses with a looping left.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nevzlin ducks under a wild hook from Sanchez. Nevzlin looks like he wants to counter punch here. Sanchez missing with a left hand there. Nevzlin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Steve Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from Nevzlin misses. Sanchez scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nevzlin is rocked! Sanchez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sanchez misses with a hook. Nevzlin avoids the body shot from Sanchez.
Nevzlin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sanchez. Nevzlin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nevzlin wants it to stay on the feet. As Sanchez backs off Nevzlin throws a huge counter combo but Sanchez manages to avoid it all. Sanchez tries a low kick but Nevzlin avoids it. Nevzlin scores with a jab to the jaw. Sanchez misses with a straight right. Sanchez lands an overhand right. Sanchez tries a head kick but it misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sanchez lands a jab to the nose. Nevzlin is still on wobbly legs! Can Sanchez finish him? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nevzlin slips a jab and a cross from Sanchez.
Sanchez dips to his left and cracks Nevzlin with an uppercut! Sanchez fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Nevzlin to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Nevzlin looks to clinch but Sanchez throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Nevzlin taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Steve Sanchez! A very excited looking Steve Sanchez made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
