Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Wolf (ranked 3539 p4p, 340 weight class) and Harlon Hughes (ranked 3494 p4p, 336 weight class). Hughes has chosen USA as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Wolf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harlon Hughes!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the cage. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've been informed that Hughes has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
The crowd cheers as Hughes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wolf doesn't seem phased though.
Wolf walks into a straight right hand from Hughes.
Hughes thuds his right hand into Wolf's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Wolf keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hughes.
Wolf attempts a counter takedown but Hughes avoids it well and moves away.

Hughes lands a right hook to the body.
Hughes paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Hughes has managed to clinch.
Hughes with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hughes lands a shoulder strike.

Wolf jumps guard and drags Hughes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hughes wants to get up but he can't break Wolf's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Wolf seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Hughes stands and steps away. Wolf gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wolf moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hughes throws a leg kick that is checked

and Wolf counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wolf.

Hughes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wolf postures up in Hughes's guard and throws a big left but Hughes blocks it.

Hughes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Wolf is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wolf has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hughes uses from the top position.

Hughes stands and steps away. Wolf gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wolf takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Wolf takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Wolf changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hughes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Wolf throws a strike aimed at the side of Hughes's head but Hughes avoids it well.
Hughes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Wolf seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hughes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hughes.
Hughes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hughes is on top in guard.

Hughes wanted to stand there but Wolf had control of the position.

Wolf wants to sweep here but Hughes controlling him for the moment.
Hughes is looking to stand up but Wolf won't let him.
Hughes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wolf seems keen to control Hughes's posture.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hughes pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Wolf back to the cage. Hughes follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Hughes's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hughes duly obliges.
Hughes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hughes cracks the inside of Wolf's front leg.
Hughes scores with a nice head shot.
Hughes throws a leg kick but Wolf checks it.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hughes, right into the meat.
Hughes bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wolf's head backwards.

Wolf manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hughes on his heels. He'll look to pass Hughes's guard now, I'm sure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hughes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hughes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughes wants it to stay on the feet.
A little jabbing left from Hughes on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Harlon Hughes seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hughes connects with a crisp jab.
Hughes misses with a two punch combination.
Hughes connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Wolf looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hughes is fending him off so far but Wolf persists. Nope, Hughes circles away and we're back to standing.
Hughes connects with a nice looking jab.
Hughes lands a head kick. Wolf smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wolf walks into a jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hughes, as that shot connected.
Hughes cracks Wolf with a good jab.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hughes as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hugo Wolf. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A left lands for Hughes.
Wolf gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Wolf on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hughes throws a quick inside leg kick.

Wolf takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown but Hughes shows good takedown defense.
Hughes lands a jab to Wolf's midsection.
Hughes lands with a hook. Wolf tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Wolf darts in looking for a takedown but Hughes gets double underhooks and turns Wolf into the cage.
Wolf takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wolf moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hughes leaves Wolf with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hughes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Wolf looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Hughes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nice uppercut there from Hughes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hughes stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A head kick misses from Hughes.
Wolf shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wolf avoids the head kick by Hughes.
Hughes connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hughes scores with a jab to the jaw.
Wolf misses with a takedown attempt
and Hughes counters with a one-two to the body.


Wolf is rocked!
Wolf throws a wild hook but Hughes just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Wolf gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Hughes raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harlon Hughes!
During a confident post fight interview, Harlon Hughes thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
