Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenny Conlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Fitzgerald!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conlin is looking to clinch but Fitzgerald is avoiding it.

Fitzgerald fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Conlin to the ground. Fitzgerald is now in Conlin's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitzgerald stays in close to Conlin's body and controls the position.
Fitzgerald pushing down on Conlin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Fitzgerald content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Fitzgerald drops an elbow to the side of Conlin's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conlin is looking to escape.

Conlin has one foot on Fitzgerald's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Conlin tries to clinch but Fitzgerald is having none of it.
Fitzgerald unleashes a big counter combination but Conlin bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Fitzgerald circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fitzgerald keeps the fight on the outside.
And Fitzgerald responds with a good body kick, but Conlin manages to step out the way in time.

Conlin moves into the clinch successfully.

Fitzgerald escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fighters circling - Fitzgerald throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fitzgerald takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Patrick Fitzgerald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Conlin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Conlin.
Fitzgerald darts in looking for a takedown but Conlin gets double underhooks and turns Fitzgerald into the cage.
It looked like Conlin was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Fitzgerald.
Conlin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Fitzgerald shoots in and bounces Conlin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Conlin kicks Fitzgerald off and gets to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The fight stays on the outside here - Conlin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fitzgerald gets a double leg takedown into Conlin's guard.

Conlin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fitzgerald on the ground.
Fitzgerald moves nicely into side control.
Conlin seems a little lost for a moment, as Fitzgerald dominates the positioning.

Conlin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fitzgerald asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Conlin is breathing heavily.

Fitzgerald is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Conlin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Conlin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fitzgerald advances to mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Conlin squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Conlin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald with shots to the head and body - Conlin looks very uncomfortable down there.
Fitzgerald looking to control and managing it successfully.
Conlin is trying to stand up.

Fitzgerald stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Fitzgerald shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Conlin's guard.
Conlin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Fitzgerald dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Conlin moves into the clinch.
Conlin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A short body shot lands from Fitzgerald as the two fighters clinch.
Conlin misses with a knee to the head.
Conlin tries to land a knee to the head but Fitzgerald blocks with his arms.

Fitzgerald pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fitzgerald looking to score a takedown here. Conlin is defending well but Fitzgerald drives through and ends up in Conlin's guard.
Conlin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Fitzgerald manages to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fitzgerald working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Conlin wants to get back to his feet.
Fitzgerald controlling the action here.

Fitzgerald is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Conlin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald stands up and beckons Conlin to join him on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fitzgerald instigates a clinch.
Fitzgerald tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Conlin smiles and moves away.

Fitzgerald moves into range and clinches up with Conlin.
Conlin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Conlin trying to control the position but instead, Fitzgerald has worked for underhooks and has pushed Conlin into the cage.

Conlin misses with a knee to the head.

Conlin breaks from the clinch.

Fitzgerald shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Conlin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fitzgerald is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fitzgerald is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Fitzgerald is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Fitzgerald decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Conlin, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Fitzgerald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Conlin gets caught napping as Fitzgerald dives in and scores a takedown. Conlin manages to retain guard.
Fitzgerald controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fitzgerald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Patrick Fitzgerald has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fitzgerald throws an elbow that misses. Conlin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fitzgerald's guard. Nice move by Conlin!

Fitzgerald has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Fitzgerald is looking for a triangle but Conlin pushes his legs off easily.

Fitzgerald lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Conlin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fitzgerald trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Fitzgerald won't allow Conlin to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fitzgerald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Fitzgerald has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Fitzgerald shoots in and bounces Conlin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fitzgerald is standing up over Conlin. Conlin looks to escape but Fitzgerald dives into side control.


Fitzgerald is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Conlin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Fitzgerald gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Conlin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Fitzgerald lets go of the hold and Conlin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Patrick Fitzgerald!
Kenny Conlin was interviewed post fight and said 'i will come back stronger and train more and come back fighting '.
