PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pablo Garcia was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sheldon Russo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pablo Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia tries to clinch up but Russo circles away and keeps his distance.
Garcia throws a left and a right that both miss
and Russo counters with a stiff right hand.
Garcia throws a right and a left that both miss.
Garcia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Russo circles away quickly and effectively.
Russo is looking to counter punch.

Garcia changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Russo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Russo sneaks out the side door and pushes Garcia away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Russo takes one on the button.
Garcia throws a left and a right that both miss
and Russo counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Garcia thinking.
Garcia looks to land a combination but Russo avoids it well.
Russo throws a big counter combination but Garcia scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Russo closes the distance and clinches.

Russo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Garcia uses from the top position.
Garcia throws a big right hand that misses.

Russo lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Garcia wants to stand up but Russo is controlling him.

Russo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Russo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Garcia has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Russo has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garcia is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Russo is controlling him.
Russo is looking to work some ground and pound but Garcia has wrist control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Russo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Garcia drives through with a takedown into Russo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Russo pushes Garcia off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Garcia misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Russo seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Garcia scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Russo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Russo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Garcia gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Russo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Garcia gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Russo manages to pull guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Garcia stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Russo gets a double leg takedown into Garcia's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Garcia manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Garcia struggles to land a body shot inside as Russo controls his hands.
Russo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Garcia's efforts to push away.
Garcia wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sheldon Russo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Russo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Garcia shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Russo eats them both and turns towards Garcia to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Garcia shoots in and gets a takedown into Russo's guard.

Russo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Garcia off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Russo clinches up with Garcia and pushes him back against the cage.
Garcia wants to get back to striking at distance but Russo won't allow it.

Garcia has had enough of the clinch but Russo keeps him there for the moment.
Garcia is trying to break the clinch but Russo is controlling him.

Russo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Garcia gets in close and tags Russo with a short punch that almost sends Russo to the mat! Oh Russo is in big trouble! He turns his back on Garcia, trying to create some distance but Garcia rushes him, striking wildly and Russo goes down! The referee tackles Garcia into the cage to end the fight! Garcia is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Garcia!
