Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Brexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sheldon Russo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chase Brexton! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brexton pushes Russo up against the cage in a clinch. Brexton breaks the clinch.
Brexton gets the takedown into side control. Brexton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Russo tries to buck Brexton off but Brexton is having none of it. Brexton throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Russo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Brexton. Russo tries to bench press Brexton off him but Brexton keeps the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brexton fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Brexton swings around for an armbar but Russo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brexton's guard. Russo wants to control from the top but Brexton keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russo is working Brexton over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Russo throwing strikes from guard but Brexton blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Russo stopping the sweep attempt from Brexton. Russo looking to sit in guard and control but Brexton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Russo throws a big right hand that misses. Russo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Russo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Russo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Brexton wants to sweep but no luck. Brexton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Brexton wants to stand and escape but Russo is having none of it. Russo controls from within his opponent's guard. Brexton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Russo's guard. Brexton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brexton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brexton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Brexton closes the distance and clinches. Russo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Brexton pulls him back up using the underhooks. Brexton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brexton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Russo is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Brexton presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Russo jumps guard but Brexton stands there with Russo around his waist. Russo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Russo is trying to trip Brexton. He has hold of a leg but Brexton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Russo persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Brexton manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Russo is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Russo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Brexton to score an easy takedown into full guard. Brexton missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Russo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Brexton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Brexton throwing strikes from guard but Russo blocks nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chase Brexton dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Brexton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Brexton wants to control but Russo is keeping him busy. Chase Brexton has got the better of the ground game so far. Brexton tries to move into full mount but can't pass Russo's legs. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Brexton has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brexton is looking to take a break and control but Russo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Russo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brexton throws a strike aimed at the side of Russo's head but Russo avoids it well. Brexton stands up. Brexton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Russo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Brexton throws an elbow that misses. Russo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brexton's guard. Nice move by Russo! Russo being controlled here momentarily. Russo trying to control the position from guard on top but Brexton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Russo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Russo wants to control from the top but Brexton keeps moving. Brexton looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Russo looking to sit in guard and control but Brexton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Brexton sitting in guard here, content to control. Brexton with a flurry of punches that miss. Brexton content to stall in guard here. Let's hope that Brexton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brexton working a defensive guard here.

Hopefully he's not broken his hand. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Brexton wants to stand and escape but Russo is having none of it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Russo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Brexton tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Russo counters with a stiff right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Chase Brexton will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Russo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Russo has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Brexton. Brexton tries to clinch up and Russo counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Brexton manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Russo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Brexton breaks the clinch.
Brexton gets a takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brexton works his way into full mount!

Brexton throws a wild left hand from mount and Russo manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Brexton throws a strike but Russo avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Brexton advances to half guard. Brexton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Brexton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Russo's head. That's three minutes gone in the round. Brexton not landing any meaningful shots this time. Brexton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Brexton trying to control the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brexton closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Russo's guard. Brexton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brexton is looking to pass into half guard but Russo pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Russo is in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brexton has his hands on Russo's head, controlling the position. Sheldon Russo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chase Brexton is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
And that's the end of the fight! Chase Brexton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Brexton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
