Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Panos Hero (ranked 6657 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Rayne (ranked 6601 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Rayne!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hero clinches.

Hero tightens his grip and picks Rayne up, before dumping him to the ground. Rayne manages to land in guard.
Rayne looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hero is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hero pushes down on Rayne's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hero controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rayne wants to get back to his feet.
Hero perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Hero is looking for a kimura here.
Hero looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Rayne has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Hero escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Hero!

Hero stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Rayne is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Eddie Rayne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hero fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rayne sprawls well initially but Hero persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rayne tries to kick Hero off in order to stand up. Hero Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Hero decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rayne cracks Hero with a good jab.
Hero avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hero throws a counter high kick but Rayne was just alert enough to avoid it.

Hero closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rayne to the mat! Rayne manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rayne looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hero has picked Rayne up and slammed him! Rayne can't keep hold of the triangle and Hero manages to pass to side control!
Hero advances to mount.

Rayne holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hero tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Hero has control of Rayne's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rayne regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hero has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rayne's face.

Hero is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rayne to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rayne shrugs it off.

Hero takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hero's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Rayne is working to get back to half guard.

Rayne fails to land with a series of punches.

Hero has hold of one of Rayne's legs. Rayne is fighting the takedown attempt but Hero gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Rayne throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rayne ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hero moves away.
Hero is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rayne.

Rayne let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Rayne swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rayne darts in looking for a takedown but Hero gets double underhooks and turns Rayne into the cage.

Hero has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rayne on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Hero.
Hero passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rayne!

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hero here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rayne has given up his back here.
Rayne is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Hero continues to hold on tight.

Hero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rayne doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hero takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Rayne throws a shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Rayne lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hero doesn't seem phased though.
Hero misses with a double jab.
Hero is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rayne can do to turn this around?

Hero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hero slows the pace down.

Hero stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Panos Hero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rayne lands a nice looking body shot.
Hero jabbing away but nothing is landing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rayne stalks Hero and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hero's face. Hero staggers backwards, shaken.
Hero walks into a jab.
Rayne digs a good body shot into Hero's ribs.

and Hero holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hero jumps guard and drags Rayne to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rayne trying to move into half guard but instead Hero has managed to sweep!

Hero is pushing down on Rayne's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rayne is fighting to maintain full guard but Hero has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rayne wants to get back to his feet but Hero is dominant here and he's now got Rayne's back!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hero, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
