Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wendell Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Efala!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Efala misses with a hook. Riggs ducked under it nicely.
Efala connects with a body shot that sends Riggs's belly button to the back.
Riggs really is a fat lump.

Riggs fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Efala to the ground. Riggs is now in Efala's guard.
Efala is looking to stand back up but Riggs counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Efala.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Riggs sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riggs is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Riggs looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Riggs is trying to work for a kimura but Efala is defending well.
Efala wants to control but Riggs is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Riggs not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Still in half guard, Riggs seems content to control.
Riggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Riggs is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Riggs seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Riggs scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riggs not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Riggs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Riggs sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Efala defending well though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Riggs tries for a takedown but Efala circles away easily
and Efala counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Wendell Riggs has been cut.
Efala jabs Riggs to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Efala looks to land a right hand but Riggs moved out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Efala with a hook.
Efala drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Riggs right on the button. Riggs goes down! Efala follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Efala gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edgar Efala!
