PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Knight (ranked 8350 p4p, 818 weight class) and Nevil Hawk (ranked 24543 p4p, 975 weight class). Knight comes into the arena with Fight to survive blaring out of the sound system. Hawk is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ruleta. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nevil Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk throws a lazy right hand but Knight sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hawk throws the left hand but Knight avoids the punch easily.
Knight swinging wildly here.

Knight misses with an attempted mid kick.
Knight looks to land a body kick but Hawk moved away.
Knight wants to clinch up but Hawk keeps it at a distance.
Knight dives in and grabs Hawk's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawk pushes down on Knight's head and hops out.

Knight shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knight shoots in but Hawk avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Knight tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hawk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Knight somewhat.

Hawk can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Knight controls the pace.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawk can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hawk is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Knight.

It looks like Kenny Knight has been cut.
Knight's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hawk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Knight scrambles back to his feet.
Knight takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Knight tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hawk swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hawk feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Knights jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Knight throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knight walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Knight swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hawk moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Hawk is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Knight had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Hawk stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawk wants it to stay on the feet.

Hawk is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Knight.
Hawk lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Knight for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Hawk might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

It looked like Knight was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Nevil Hawk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Hawk fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Knight looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Nevil Hawk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hawk winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
