Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Pesci (ranked 7218 p4p, 673 weight class) and Xing Pugberg (ranked 6645 p4p, 652 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xing Pugberg!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pesci lands a nice looking body kick.
Pugberg fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pesci manages to avoid it.
Pesci bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Pugberg has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pugberg there as he acknowledges the shot.
Pesci dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pesci scores with a jab to the jaw.
Pugberg swings for the body but Pesci moves out of range.
Pesci scores with a shot to the body.
A bone on bone clash there as Pesci blocks the leg kick.
Joe Pesci seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pesci scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Pugberg jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pesci comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Pugberg should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pesci lands with a hook. Pugberg tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Pesci tests Pugberg's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pesci lands a nice shot to the body.
Pugberg missing with a left hand there. Pesci was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
It looked like Pesci wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Pugberg shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pugberg sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pesci's guard.
Pesci is staying active underneath Pugberg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pugberg is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pesci has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pugberg is working away from the top position though.
Pesci is controlling Pugberg's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Pugberg seems to be working for a kimura but Pesci defends the submission attempt.

Pugberg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pesci is trying to get back to full guard.
Pesci preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Pesci is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Pugberg jumps into side control!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
You can see the frustration on Pesci's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pugberg thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Pugberg is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pesci knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pesci can't do much from the bottom here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Xing Pugberg will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pesci throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pugberg stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Pesci blocks a low kick nicely.
Pesci swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Pesci fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pugberg.
Pugberg shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Pesci scores with a shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Pugberg.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pugberg.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pugberg is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Pesci looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pugberg gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Pesci is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pugberg lets go of the hold and Pesci can pop his arm back in it's socket.
