PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jiu Jitsu (ranked 415 p4p, 58 weight class) and Jacks Sole (ranked 453 p4p, 64 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jiu Jitsu has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jiu Jitsu seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 1, fighting out of London, Jiu Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacks Sole!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Jitsu checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jitsu wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jitsu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sole throws a fast counter high kick but Jitsu manages to duck under it in time.
Sole lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jitsu takes a step back to recover.
Sole has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jitsu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sole avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice uppercut there from Sole.


It looks like Jiu Jitsu has been cut.

Sole punishes Jitsu's body with a nice straight punch.
Sole keeps the fight on the outside.
Sole misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sole throws a nice head kick!

Sole gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jitsu won't allow Sole to sweep him here.
Sole is trying to keep Jitsu in close.
We've been hearing good reports from Jitsu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sole is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Sole wants to control but Jitsu is keeping him busy.
Jitsu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jitsu is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sole off and has taken his back!
Sole grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Sole tries to escape but Jitsu has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sole is still trying to improve position.

Jitsu looking for the RNC.
Jitsu lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Jitsu.
Sole turns into Jitsu and is now in his guard.

Jitsu looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Sole passes into half guard.
Jitsu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sole is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Sole is trying to control. Jitsu wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sole in particular looking to stall.

Jitsu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sole pulls his head out easily.
Sole is trying to control the action in half guard but Jitsu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jitsu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jitsu won't allow Sole to pass to mount.

Jitsu is staying active underneath Sole, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sole attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Jitsu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sole has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jitsu shoots in for a double leg but Sole sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sole throws a jab but it's blocked by Jitsu.
Sole throws a body shot but no joy.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Jitsu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Sole trying to keep a closed guard but Jitsu is proving a slippery customer.

Jitsu is in close to Sole's body, working some short punches and elbows.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jitsu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sole has control of Jitsu's left arm, preventing Jitsu from doing any damage.
Sole looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jitsu is one step ahead there.
Jitsu lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sole is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sole pulls Jitsu in close to prevent any damage.
Jitsu tries to free his leg and advance position but Sole is retaining full guard.

Jitsu postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sole is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jitsu, into his guard.

Sole is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sole got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jitsu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sole has managed to get both his arms back between Jitsu's legs - danger averted.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jitsu has his foot on Sole's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sole works his way back into a safe position though.
Sole lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Sole must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jitsu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sole is aware though and is defending well.

That's time! Jitsu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Sole connects with a right hand. Jitsu shakes it off.

Jitsu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sole is just riding it out for now. Jitsu eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jitsu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sole doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jitsu.
Sole has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jitsu is working away from the top position though.
Sole might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jitsu haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jitsu lands a couple of digs.

Sole looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Jitsu is defending well. Sole quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Jitsu has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Sole celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jacks Sole!
A very excited looking Jacks Sole made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
