Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Guilherme Mendes (ranked 9867 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Gracie (ranked 5626 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Guilherme Mendes! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Ricardo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Mendes is looking for a sweep.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mendes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Mendes won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.

Mendes wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

My spies in Jako Gym inform me that Gracie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mendes sees it coming and defends easily.

Mendes moves into full guard.

Gracie tries to roll over but Mendes keeps him under control.
Still in half guard, Mendes seems content to control.

Mendes is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.

Mendes seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendes pulls his head out easily.

Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mendes keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Mendes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Mendes has control of the leg.

Mendes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mendes trying to work for an americana but Gracie has managed to regain full guard.
Gracie looking to control.
Gracie is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mendes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gracie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mendes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mendes working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gracie's thigh. Gracie counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Mendes tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Mendes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mendes wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.

Gracie is trying to control the position but Mendes postures up.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Mendes defends easily.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mendes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mendes defends it easily.

Mendes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Gracie looking for a triangle here. Mendes is fighting it but it looks tight! Gracie pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Mendes is tapping out - this one is all over!
