Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joel Bates (ranked 1146 p4p, 157 weight class) and Mike Megaton (ranked 3186 p4p, 369 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Megaton! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bates takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Bates clinches up with Megaton and pushes him back against the cage. Megaton holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Bates misses with a short punch on the inside. Bates makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Bates tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Bates misses with the head strike.
Megaton trying to control the position but instead, Bates has worked for underhooks and has pushed Megaton into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bates prevents Megaton from breaking the clinch. Megaton has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Bates seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Megaton can turn it around. Megaton trying to control the position but instead, Bates has worked for underhooks and has pushed Megaton into the cage.

Bates swings wildly with an uppercut but Megaton uses good head movement to avoid it. Megaton lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bates backwards. A head punch on the inside from Bates fails to land. Megaton is trying to break the clinch but Bates is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A short uppercut from Megaton. Megaton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Bates has a couple of punches blocked by Megaton.

Bates tries to pull guard but Megaton holds him up against the cage and eventually Bates drops back down to his feet.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Megaton is trying to force a seperation but Bates has the dominant position. A head punch blocked on the inside by Megaton. Bates misses with a punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joel Bates dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bates rushes Megaton and presses him up against the cage. Bates pulls guard effortlessly. Bates controlling the position. Megaton trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom. Bates is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bates seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bates thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bates with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Bates sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Megaton defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates tries to pass the half guard into mount. Megaton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Bates throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Bates works his way into full mount! Megaton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Megaton is working to get back to half guard.
Bates lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Megaton hang on? Bates controlling from the full mount. Bates lands a couple of good shots and Megaton has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Megaton just trying to survive but Bates is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Megaton is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bates gets his way!
Bates controls the action. Megaton tries to escape the position.
Bates is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Joel Bates overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Megaton fending off the submission attempt from Bates. Megaton grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Bates keeps control of the position easily here as Megaton tries to buck him off.
Megaton is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
I would not like to be Megaton right now.
Bates has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates throwing sloppy strikes. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Bates.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bates has good solid back control here. Megaton covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bates trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Megaton doesn't escape. Bates missing with strikes. Bates controlling from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joel Bates dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

It looks like Mike Megaton has been cut. Bates throws a punch but it's blocked by Megaton. Bates has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Megaton manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mike Megaton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bates scores with a shot to the side of Megaton's head. Megaton's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Megaton blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Bates. Bates lands with a light punch inside. Joel Bates has scored more points in the clinch so far. Bates has a couple of punches blocked by Megaton.

Bates misses with a short punch on the inside. Bates tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Megaton just stands there and leans against the cage. Joel Bates is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Megaton fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Megaton will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bates up against the cage. Megaton misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that's the end of the fight! Joel Bates showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bates, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
