Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blayze Sommer (ranked 4578 p4p, 411 weight class) and Isaac Sparks (ranked 3921 p4p, 367 weight class). Sparks is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Survivor. The key to victory for Blayze Sommer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blayze Sommer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Isaac Sparks! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sommer lands a nice shot that snaps Sparks's head back.
It looks like Isaac Sparks has been cut. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sommer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sparks. Sparks has his takedown stuffed and Sommer holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Sparks goes for a takedown attempt but Sommer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Blayze Sommer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isaac Sparks. Sparks tries for a takedown but Sommer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Horrible takedown attempt by Sparks or perhaps it was just good defense by Sommer, which made it look bad. Sommer tries to counter by clinching up but Sparks breaks away and moves out of range. Sommer sends Sparks crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sommer is motioning to the referee to let Sparks up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Sparks is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A momentary lapse in concentration from Sommer enables Sparks to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sommer manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Sparks is still in real trouble! Can Sommer finish him? Sommer wants to stand up but Sparks is controlling him. Sommer keeping moving, preventing Sparks from controlling successfully. Sparks wants to pass the guard but Sommer is keeping the position. Sparks seems to have recovered his senses. Sparks thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks content to stall in guard here. Sommer keeping full guard, as Sparks tries to pass. Sparks is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sparks wants to control from the top but Sommer keeps moving. Sparks showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Sparks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sparks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sparks stays in close to Sommer's body and controls the position. Sommer can't keep his opponent in guard - Sparks advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Sommer looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Sparks with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Sparks wants to free his trapped foot but Sommer is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sparks looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sommer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sommer tries to get out of the position. Sparks trying to control from half guard but Sommer is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sparks is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Sommer wants to get back to his feet. Sparks is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sommer sees it coming and defends easily. Sparks throwing shots but Sommer is blocking nicely. Sparks missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sparks scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Sparks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sommer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sparks wants to free his trapped foot but Sommer is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sparks maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Sommer could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sparks has cracked it and Sommer is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sparks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Isaac Sparks! Isaac Sparks was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
