Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Khru Jako (ranked 3904 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Hughs (ranked 2823 p4p, 0 weight class). Jako's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Catch a Fire. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khru Jako!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 49 - 57 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hughs!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jako rushes Hughs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jako wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hughs has him pressed against the cage.
Jako lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Joe Hughs has been cut.
Hughs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jako is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Jako controlling the action here for a moment.
Jako avoids a wild elbow strike from Hughs.

Jako's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jako tries to avoid it but Hughs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jako to the ground. Jako escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jako throws a big counter combination but Hughs scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Jako lands with a slapping head kick.
Khru Jako seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jako darts in and clinches Hughs up against the cage.
Jako blocks an elbow strike from Hughs.
Nice body punch from Jako.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jako lands a hook that snaps the head of Hughs backwards.
I was talking to Jako's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Hughs looking to throw knees to the head but Jako is blocking nicely.
Jako lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hughs backwards.


Hughs is rocked!

Jako drops Hughs onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Hughs is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Hughs is still on wobbly legs! Can Jako finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jako pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jako throws a nice outside leg kick.
Jako throws an uppercut from hell that sends Hughs clean off his feet! He's out cold! Jako stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Khru Jako!
After the fight, Khru Jako was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
