24 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Raban! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammouche connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Raban's hands. Raban looks low and kicks high, catching Hammouche right on the side of the head, sending him crashing to the canvas! Will he be able to beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's already back to his feet and ready to go! Let's see if he's still with it!
It looks like Djamel Hammouche has been cut. Raban bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hammouche blocks a head kick by Raban.
Raban takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Hammouche has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hammouche lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like James Raban has been cut. Raban slips a straight right by Hammouche. Raban looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Raban punishes Hammouche's body with a nice straight punch. Hammouche walks into a left hand. Hammouche misses with a double jab.
Hammouche connects with a crisp jab. Raban throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hammouche lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Raban fails with an attempt to clinch.
Raban moves away from the strike by Hammouche. Raban moves out of range as Hammouche strikes. Hammouche drops his guard momentarily, allowing Raban to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Hammouche! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Raban takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). James Raban! James Raban took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
