Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donovan Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jashon McKnight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Donovan Shaw has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKnight closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McKnight lands in his opponent's guard.
Shaw looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

McKnight drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shaw manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McKnight has Shaw in his guard.

McKnight is looking for a triangle but Shaw pushes his legs off easily.

McKnight working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shaw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shaw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McKnight has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shaw is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McKnight.
McKnight is trying to improve his position.
Shaw lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear McKnight down.
McKnight is looking for a sweep.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice takedown defense from Shaw. No joy for McKnight on that attempt.

Shaw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McKnight can do anything to dispel that myth.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Shaw shoots in and bounces McKnight off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

McKnight has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shaw can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McKnight quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Shaw has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! McKnight celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
