8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chugman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lee Roth was covering up waiting for the punch and Chugman finishes the takedown easily into guard. Chugman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lee Roth is looking for a triangle but Chugman pushes his legs off easily.
Chugman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Chugman showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lee Roth can't keep his opponent in guard - Chugman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee Roth is looking for a sweep. Chugman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lee Roth looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee Roth is defending against the submission attempts here by Chugman.
Lee Roth has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Chugman escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Chugman!
That's one minute gone in the round. Chugman working away. Chugman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lee Roth is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Lee Roth prevents Chugman from improving position. Chugman is trying to get an arm triangle but Lee Roth is defending well. Lee Roth gets back to half guard. Chugman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee Roth keeps working. Lee Roth gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee Roth escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chugman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Chugman passes Lee Roth's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Chugman wants to free his trapped foot but Lee Roth is holding on for dear life with his legs. Lee Roth looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chugman is trying to work for a kimura but Lee Roth is defending well.
Chugman not doing much here.
Lee Roth is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chugman pulls his head out easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chugman wants to pass the guard but Lee Roth is defending well. Chugman in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lee Roth tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Chugman!
