Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Len Richmond (ranked 9169 p4p, 0 weight class) and Atino Pino (ranked 6098 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Len Richmond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Atino Pino!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pino closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pino lands in his opponent's guard.

Richmond looking to control.
Richmond is wriggling around but Pino manages to pass to half guard.
Richmond wants to improve his position but Pino is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richmond is staying active underneath Pino, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pino stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Richmond to get to his feet.
Atino Pino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pino decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Richmond enables Pino to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Richmond manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pino stands and steps away. Richmond gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Pino bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richmond pushes Pino away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pino gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richmond wants to get back to his feet but Pino is dominant here and he's now got Richmond's back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pino is riding his opponent, not letting Richmond buck him off.
Richmond wants to control his opponent's hands but Pino gets his hands free.
Pino is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Pino's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Pino controlling the position well here. Richmond rolled but Pino kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Richmond just trying to survive but Pino is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Pino slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Richmond wants to control his opponent's hands but Pino gets his hands free.

Pino decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Pino fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Richmond to the ground. Pino is now in Richmond's guard.

Pino stands and steps away. Richmond gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Richmond pushes Pino off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Pino looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Pino is continuing to stall.

Pino is thwarting Richmond's attempts to control the position.
Richmond throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Richmond tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Richmond wants to control but Pino is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Richmond tries to kick Pino off but Pino keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Pino feints and as Richmond raises his hands in defense, Pino changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pino decides to stand and escape the position.
Richmond shoots for a takedown but Pino saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pino closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Richmond to the mat! Richmond manages to get full guard.

Atino Pino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Pino manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Richmond on his heels. He'll look to pass Richmond's guard now, I'm sure.

Richmond shoots in for a takedown but Pino shows good takedown defense.
Richmond changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pino tries to avoid it but Richmond manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pino to the ground. Pino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Richmond can't keep his opponent in guard - Pino advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Richmond looks like he's trying to stand up.
Richmond has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pino is working away from the top position though.

Pino decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pino closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pino decides to return to a standing position.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Richmond is defended easily by Pino.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Len Richmond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pino connects with a nice short shot to Richmond's temple.

Pino shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Richmond manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Richmond is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Pino dives into side control.

Pino content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Richmond wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Pino seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Richmond is tapping! Wow, great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Brabo Choke). Atino Pino!
After the fight, Atino Pino was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
