Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Payton (ranked 3756 p4p, 448 weight class) and Chris Severn (ranked 3157 p4p, 390 weight class). Chris Severn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evan Payton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 26 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Severn! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Severn lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Severn. Payton misses with a straight right. A nice side step and Severn releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Severn throws a sloppy head kick and Payton moves out of range easily. Severn lands a head kick!
Payton darts in looking for a takedown but Severn gets double underhooks and turns Payton into the cage. Payton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Severn wants to get back to his feet but Payton is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Payton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Payton trying to control the position from guard on top but Severn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Payton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Severn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Payton wants to control from the top but Severn keeps moving. Payton tries to free his leg and advance position but Severn is retaining full guard. Payton stopping the sweep attempt from Severn.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Severn stuffs the takedown attempt from Payton. Payton gets slowly back to his feet. Severn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan Payton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Payton misses with a hook to the body
and Severn counters with a nice body shot. Payton is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Severn takes one on the chin but seems OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Payton. Payton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Severn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Payton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Payton trying to control the position but Severn is working away. Severn is trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Payton is trying to get an arm triangle but Severn is defending well. Severn manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Severn is controlling the pace.
Severn is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Payton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Severn is trying to control the action in half guard but Payton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Severn landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Payton taking some punishment here, with Severn in his half guard. Severn controlling the action here. Severn is stalling here. Payton is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Severn seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Payton has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Severn is trying to improve his position. Payton looking to control but instead Severn has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Severn tries to get to full guard but Payton has control of the leg. Payton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Severn dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Payton swings for the body but Severn moves out of range.
Severn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Payton to score with a decent uppercut. Payton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Payton wants to clinch and Severn counters with a straight right hand. Payton moves into the clinch. Payton goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Payton. Payton letting Severn take a breather here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Payton lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Payton tightens his grip and picks Severn up, before dumping him to the ground. Severn manages to land in guard. Severn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Payton pushes down on Severn's leg and manages to get into half guard. Severn trying to hold on to Payton's head to control him but Payton postures up.
Payton wants to pass the guard but Severn is defending well. Evan Payton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Payton is trying to control the action in half guard but Severn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Severn is trying to stand up here but Payton is controlling him well. Payton is working for a kimura but Severn is defending it quite comfortably.
Payton is looking for a kimura but Severn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Payton to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Payton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Payton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Severn keeps working. Severn is trying to stand.
Severn wants to control but Payton is keeping busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Payton wants to work for an arm triangle but Severn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Severn is controlling Payton's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Payton shoots in looking for a takedown but Severn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Payton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Severn with a nice cross. Severn moves away from the strike by Payton. Severn drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Payton defends it well. Severn tries to move into range but Payton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Severn takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Severn swats away the attempt to clinch by Payton.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Payton clinches with his opponent.
Severn pulls Payton into guard.
Severn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Payton stops Severn from standing up. Payton stands and throws Severn's legs to the side, diving into side control. Payton swings around for an armbar but Severn sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Payton's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Severn engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Payton keeping moving, preventing Severn from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan Payton dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Payton closes the distance and clinches. Severn drags the fight down to the ground.
Payton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Severn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Payton has managed to get both his arms back between Severn's legs - danger averted. Severn looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Severn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Severn stays in close to Payton's body and controls the position. Payton throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Severn wants to pass the guard but Payton is keeping the position. Severn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Payton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Severn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Payton is looking for a triangle but Severn pushes his legs off easily.
Severn trying to control but Payton is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Payton trying to keep a closed guard but Severn is proving a slippery customer.
Severn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Chris Severn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Payton takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Payton misses with a hook. Payton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Severn avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Severn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Payton wants to clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Payton tries to close the distance and clinch but Severn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Severn looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Payton throws an overhand right that lands on Severn's shoulder, as Severn tries to avoid the shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Severn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Severn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
