The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slaerop throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jeroen Slaerop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Svenson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slaerop swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Slaerop has closed the distance and engaged Svenson in a clinch.
Svenson using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Slaerop wants to break free but Svenson has control.
Svenson goes for a takedown attempt but Slaerop pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Slaerop throws a hook but Svenson avoids it easily.
Svenson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Slaerop lands with a straight right. Svenson didn't see that one coming.
Svenson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Svenson wants to stand and escape but Slaerop is having none of it.

and Svenson counters with a single leg into guard. Slaerop didn't expect that.

Slaerop is looking to stand up but Svenson isn't so interested in that idea.

Svenson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Slaerop is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Svenson is controlling him.
Slaerop is breathing heavily.

Svenson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Svenson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Svenson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slaerop paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Slaerop counters with a nice double leg into side control. Svenson won't be happy with that.

Slaerop tries to close the distance and clinch up but Svenson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Svenson shoots in but Slaerop avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Svenson throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Slaerop manages to break the clinch.
Slaerop blocks a head kick by Svenson.
Slaerop takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Slaerop drives through and clinches with Svenson against the cage.

Slaerop breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Slaerop takes a swing at Svenson's ribcage but misses.
Svenson shoots in but no luck this time.
Slaerop doesn't manage to clinch there - Svenson circles away.
Svenson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Slaerop sends Svenson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Slaerop is motioning to the referee to let Svenson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

It looks like David Svenson has been cut.
Slaerop closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Svenson! Slaerop dives in looking to finish! Svenson is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
