PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felix Dickson (ranked 9284 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Slapp (ranked 7055 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Slapp told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Felix Dickson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Slapp! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slapp takes a swing at Dickson's ribcage but misses. Dickson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slapp.
Dickson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slapp tries to avoid it but Dickson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slapp to the ground. Slapp escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Slapp sends Dickson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Slapp is motioning to the referee to let Dickson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
It looks like Felix Dickson has been cut. Dickson shoots in looking for a takedown. Slapp tries to sprawl out of it but Dickson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slapp manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Slapp throws a series of punches but Dickson moves out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Dickson throws a head kick but Slapp moves out of range.
Slapp defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dickson. Slapp with the counter takedown but Dickson avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felix Dickson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slapp goes for a small jab and connects. Now Slapp goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Dickson stumbles back but Slapp runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Dickson to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Dickson will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mike Slapp!
