The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franco takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Banks misses with a head kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Franco has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Banks feints and then cracks Franco's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Franco down. Banks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Franco moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Banks lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Banks goes for a high kick. It partially lands. A low kick from Banks misses and Franco counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Banks trying to control from the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Franco wants to control but Banks is keeping him busy. Franco thumps the canvas.
