The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Bittencourt.
Mark feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bittencourt wriggles free and stands up.
Bittencourt misses with a few strikes there.
Bittencourt works over Mark's head and body with a nice combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bittencourt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Mark feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bittencourts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Bittencourt throws a jab but it's blocked by Mark.
Mark now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Mark lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

and Bittencourt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Bittencourt fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mark manages to avoid it.
Bittencourt throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mark now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

and Mark connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mark just misses with a punch to the body.
A lazy left from Mark finds it's target.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bittencourt moves into the clinch successfully.
Bittencourt throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Marks head.

Bittencourt lands an uppercut.

Mark gets through Bittencourt's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Bittencourt lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Mark.
Bittencourt doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
I was talking to Bittencourt's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Mark escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mahalo Bittencourt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bittencourt takes one to the side of the head.
Mark slips under a jab.

Mark ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bittencourt moves away.
Bittencourt throws a jab when Mark was well out of range.
Bittencourt lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bittencourt.

Bittencourt throws a series of punches but Mark avoids them all with ease.

and Bittencourt counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Mark rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bittencourt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mark walks into a left hand.
Bittencourt closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Mark! Bittencourt dives in looking to finish! Mark is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

A relieved looking Mahalo Bittencourt thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
