Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Manuel Vasquez (ranked 4084 p4p, 490 weight class) and Todd Rumper (ranked 4213 p4p, 509 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Manuel Vasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Todd Rumper! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rumper stuffs the takedown attempt from Vasquez. Vasquez gets slowly back to his feet. Vasquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rumper is fending him off so far but Vasquez persists. Nope, Rumper circles away and we're back to standing. Rumper checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Vasquez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rumper. Rumper shoots in looking for a takedown but Vasquez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rumper's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rumper. Manuel Vasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Todd Rumper. Rumper fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vasquez, pushing him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rumper misses with a hook to the ribs.
Rumper breaks the clinch.
Vasquez throws a leg kick and Rumper moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasquez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rumper.
Rumper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rumper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Vasquez wants to control from the top but Rumper keeps moving. Rumper is pulling down on Vasquez's head to control his posture. Vasquez wants to pass the guard but Rumper is keeping the position. Vasquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Vasquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Rumper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Vasquez stands up from guard. Let's bang! Rumper has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Vasquez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rumper swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rumper lands a left and a right that send Vasquez crashing to the mat, dazed. Rumper thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Vasquez is rocked!
It looks like Manuel Vasquez has been cut. Rumper just misses with a punch to the body.
Oh Vasquez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Vasquez glances at the clock... BAM! Rumper nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Vasquez crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Vasquez is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Todd Rumper!
