Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luciano Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Williams! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vargas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Williams paws at him with a jab and circles away. Williams clinches with his opponent.

Williams tries to pull guard but Vargas holds him up against the cage and eventually Williams drops back down to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Williams feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Vargas kicks Williams off and gets to his feet. Jason Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Vargas shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Williams tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vargas circles away. Williams tries a head kick but it misses.
Vargas drops down looking for a counter takedown but Williams sprawls and moves away. Williams defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vargas. Williams shoots for a takedown but Vargas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Williams tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Vargas is able to avoid easily.

Vargas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Williams looks winded! Vargas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one. Vargas slips a jab and a cross from Williams.

Williams slaps away a takedown attempt from Vargas, before circling back to the center of the mat. Vargas fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Williams leaves Vargas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vargas moves out of range as Williams throws a body kick.
Vargas drops down looking for a counter takedown but Williams sprawls and moves away. Vargas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Williams swats him away and circles back towards the center. Vargas throws a head kick but Williams moves out of range.
Williams closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vargas's guard. Williams throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Williams throwing strikes but missing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vargas is controlling Williams's posture. Vargas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Williams dominated that round. That's time! Vargas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Williams throws a leg kick which misses Vargas's front leg but catches the back leg as Vargas tries to avoid it. Williams fails with a takedown attempt. Vargas seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Vargas throws a combination that misses and Williams counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vargas won't be happy with that. Vargas throws Williams to one side and escapes! Luciano Vargas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Williams throwing shots but Vargas is blocking nicely. Vargas trying to control here.

Luciano Vargas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vargas working a defensive guard here.
Williams throws an elbow that misses. Vargas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Williams's guard. Nice move by Vargas! Williams wants to get back to his feet but Vargas is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Williams is working an open guard so Vargas takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams clinches up against the cage. Williams is trying to push Vargas away but Vargas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Vargas is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Vargas lands a couple of good shots and Williams has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Vargas scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
