RS 172 Power Slam PBP Commentary



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams misses with a wild body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Heart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Williams! But no joy.
A decent looking cross lands there for Heart.
Heart cracks Williams with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Heart scores with a nice strike.
Williams finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Heart takes a swing at Williams's ribcage but misses.
Heart tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Williams manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Williams throws a jab but it's blocked by Heart.
Heart's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Heart duly obliges.
Williams throws a shot from downtown. Heart moves away and avoids it.
Heart takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Heart is able to avoid easily.
Heart seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Heart wants the takedown. Williams is fighting it off but Heart persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Williams's guard against the cage.

We've been hearing good reports from Heart's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Heart lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Heart manages to avoid it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

I would just about give that final round to D'Wayne Williams.
Well Heart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
