PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Athan Pallas (ranked 2484 p4p, 295 weight class) and Carlos Lawler (ranked 2604 p4p, 308 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pallas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Greeks on Attack. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Athan Pallas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pallas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lawler is in Pallas's guard.
Lawler tries to free his leg and advance position but Pallas is retaining full guard.
Pallas is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Lawler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Pallas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Pallas is looking for a triangle but Lawler pushes his legs off easily.
Lawler throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pallas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lawler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lawler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pallas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pallas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Pallas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lawler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lawler drops back looking for a leg! Pallas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pallas manages to kick Lawler off! Lawler jumps back into Pallas's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Lawler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
