The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Nedkov. Nedkov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Nedkov tries to stand but Boyd controls the position and pulls Nedkov into his guard. Boyd is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nedkov throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nedkov wants to improve his position but Boyd is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Boyd is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nedkov has managed to free his arm - good work. Boyd perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Boyd really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nedkov wants to get back to full guard but Boyd has passed into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boyd is working to tighten his grip on Nedkov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Nedkov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Boyd is really squeezing tight and eventually Nedkov passes out! Boyd breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bradford Boyd!
