Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christian Rio Laksa (ranked 6248 p4p, 602 weight class) and Garuda Eagle (ranked 5761 p4p, 622 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Garuda Eagle was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christian Rio Laksa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Garuda Eagle! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eagle is looking to chop away at Rio Laksa's legs. Rio Laksa dives in and grabs Eagle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eagle pushes down on Rio Laksa's head and hops out. Garuda Eagle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eagle gets the takedown into side control. Eagle works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Eagle fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Rio Laksa gets back to half guard. Eagle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rio Laksa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rio Laksa on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Rio Laksa looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Eagle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rio Laksa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Eagle wants to free his trapped foot but Rio Laksa is holding on for dear life with his legs. Eagle sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rio Laksa defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rio Laksa on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Eagle takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Rio Laksa is trying to stand back up but Eagle is controlling him
Eagle is working for a kimura but Rio Laksa is defending it quite comfortably.
Eagle looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rio Laksa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Eagle has eaten all the pies! Eagle winds up and cracks Rio Laksa with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Eagle slips a nice elbow through Rio Laksa's hands, connecting with Rio Laksa's forehead. Rio Laksa is trying to stand.
Rio Laksa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rio Laksa. Eagle is working Rio Laksa over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Rio Laksa keeping full guard, as Eagle tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eagle working some strikes from top position. Rio Laksa looking to control.
Eagle postures up and lands a big shot to Rio Laksa's brow. Eagle scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Eagle tries to free his leg and advance position but Rio Laksa is retaining full guard. Rio Laksa has momentary wrist control but Eagle slips an elbow through the middle. Rio Laksa is breathing heavily. Eagle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rio Laksa's head. Eagle stands up over Rio Laksa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Eagle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Eagle lands a couple of elbows. Eagle keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rio Laksa's head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eagle tries to free his leg and advance position but Rio Laksa is retaining full guard. Eagle stands up over Rio Laksa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eagle looking to pass the guard. Eagle works over Rio Laksa with some ground and pound from guard. Eagle working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Eagle working some strikes from top position. Eagle scoring with some ground and pound. Eagle with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eagle cracks Rio Laksa with a solid left hand. Eagle content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Eagle trying to control the position from guard on top but Rio Laksa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Eagle landing with the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eagle drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rio Laksa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Eagle has Rio Laksa in his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eagle has a closed guard, preventing Rio Laksa from standing up. Eagle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rio Laksa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rio Laksa trying to control but Eagle is working from the bottom. Eagle working for a triangle but Rio Laksa defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Garuda Eagle dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rio Laksa or perhaps it was just good defense by Eagle, which made it look bad. Eagle stuffs the takedown attempt from Rio Laksa. Rio Laksa gets slowly back to his feet. Rio Laksa dives in for a single leg takedown but Eagle sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christian Rio Laksa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rio Laksa fails with a takedown attempt. Eagle throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rio Laksa tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Eagle is in Rio Laksa's guard. Eagle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rio Laksa keeping moving, preventing Eagle from controlling successfully. Rio Laksa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Eagle with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eagle keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rio Laksa's head. Eagle with a nice head shot there. Eagle pushes down on Rio Laksa's leg and manages to get into half guard. Eagle lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Ground and pound from Eagle. Rio Laksa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Eagle scores with a couple of nice shots. Eagle has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Eagle is working for a submission of some sort.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Eagle connects with a nice short shot to Rio Laksa's temple. Eagle takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Eagle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Eagle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rio Laksa keeps working. Eagle lands strikes from half guard. Eagle lands with a punch from half guard. Rio Laksa trying to control but Eagle postures up.

Eagle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Eagle lands a nice short elbow. Rio Laksa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Eagle pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eagle lands strikes from half guard. Eagle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

He's trying to wriggle out but Eagle has cracked it and Rio Laksa is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Eagle!
