Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Arruda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dukes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arruda comes to the cage accompanied by Eu Sou o Eric ( No Meu Cross Fox). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Arruda! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Dukes! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arruda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dukes explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Dukes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Arruda blocks a head kick by Dukes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dukes looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dukes wants to clinch. A slapping leg kick lands for Dukes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dukes tries to clinch there but Arruda circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Arruda keeps the fight on the outside. Arruda shoots in for a double leg but Dukes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Arruda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dukes to the mat! Dukes manages to get full guard. Arruda is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Arruda wants to pass the guard but Dukes is keeping the position. Arruda wants to control from the top but Dukes keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arruda looking to sit in guard and control but Dukes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. That's two minutes gone in the round. Arruda decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dukes, up you get! Arruda shoots in and bounces Dukes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Arruda stopping the sweep attempt from Dukes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arruda passes Dukes's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Arruda could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Dukes is looking for a sweep. Arruda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Arruda trying to mount his opponent but Dukes defends it. Dukes looks gassed! Arruda stands up from half guard. Arruda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dukes but Dukes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dukes wants to clinch up but Arruda keeps it at a distance. Arruda shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dukes as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Arruda. That's going to take a lot out of him. Arruda gets the takedown into side control. Dukes can't do much from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dukes doesn't succeed with the takedown so Arruda counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Arruda thows a big elbow that misses. Dukes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arruda pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dukes is keeping the position for now. Dukes wants to stand and escape but Arruda is having none of it. Arruda stands up from Dukes's guard - Arruda perhaps looking for a knockout. Arruda darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dukes is looking to improve his position.
Arruda trying to control the pace. Arruda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dukes for as long as he can get away with.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Arruda tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dukes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Arruda is figuring out what he wants to do next. Arruda throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Dukes is looking to control Arruda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dukes avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arruda seems to be working for a kimura but Dukes defends the submission attempt. Dukes is pressing down on Arruda's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Dukes trying to keep a closed guard but Arruda is proving a slippery customer.
Dukes is working an open guard so Arruda takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Arruda feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dukes is trying to control the position but Arruda postures up. Arruda looking to sit in guard and control but Dukes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Dukes looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Arruda has Dukes pulled in close to control his posture. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Arruda dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Arruda controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Arruda wants to control from the top but Dukes keeps moving. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Arruda looking to sit in guard and control but Dukes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Arruda tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dukes trying to control but Arruda is working from the bottom. Dukes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arruda swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dukes won't allow Arruda to sweep him here. Arruda wants to stand but Dukes is controlling the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Arruda has a takedown stuffed.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Arruda shoots in looking for a takedown. Dukes tries to sprawl out of it but Arruda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dukes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Arruda. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dukes doesn't manage to clinch there - Arruda circles away.
Dukes lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Arruda circles away from the clinch attempt and Arruda counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Arruda.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dukes controls Arruda momentarily but Arruda frees himself. Arruda is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Arruda looking to pass the guard. Arruda trying to control but Dukes is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Dukes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dukes wants to stand and escape but Arruda is having none of it. Eric Arruda is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Arruda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dukes's guard. Arruda controlling the action here. Arruda tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dukes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Eric Arruda showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Arruda, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
