Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Panther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roderick Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edwards is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Animal I have Become. Roderick Edwards is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Panther! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roderick Edwards! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edwards shoots for a double leg takedown but Panther sprawls well. He's pushed Edwards's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Edwards closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Panther wants to control but Edwards postures up. Edwards looks up at the clock and then as Panther takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Edwards smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Panther is looking to reverse the position. Edwards is trying to get an arm triangle but Panther is defending well. Panther is not content to let Edwards control the position. Edwards moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Edwards tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Edwards has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edwards tries to advance to mount but can't. The ground and pound from Edwards seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Panther wants to control but Edwards postures up. Panther takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Edwards is trying to get an arm triangle but Panther is defending well. Panther tries to improve position but can't. Edwards misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Edwards wants to control but Panther is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. You can see the frustration on Panther's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Edwards thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Edwards connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Edwards landing strikes from the mount. Panther tries to hold on but Edwards postures up. Edwards has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edwards unloading with bombs! Edwards controlling the pace for now. Edwards has hold of Panther's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Panther manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Edwards looks gassed! Edwards lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Panther hang on? Edwards working for a submission but Panther is keeping him at bay. Panther throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Panther is looking to improve his position but Edwards isn't that keen on the idea. Edwards lands a heavy elbow. Edwards with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Panther wants to control but Edwards is having none of it. Panther is in all sorts of trouble here.
Panther is working hard here to advance position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roderick Edwards dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Panther shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Panther showed some decent athleticism there. Panther knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Edwards on the ground. Edwards is pressing down on Panther's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Edwards working for a triangle but Panther defends it easily.

Panther trying to stand up but can't free himself from Edwards's guard. Panther trying to control but Edwards is working from the bottom. Edwards manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Panther manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Panther keeping full guard, as Edwards tries to pass. Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Panther is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Panther is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Roderick Edwards has got the better of the ground game so far. Edwards controlling from the top position.

Edwards pushes down on Panther's leg and manages to get into half guard. Edwards is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Panther! Panther is in a horrible position here. Edwards smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Edwards working for a submission but Panther is keeping him at bay. Edwards tries to control but Panther wriggling away. Edwards working for a guillotine from mount but Panther is in no mood to give up. Panther is wriggling around trying to escape.

Roderick Edwards showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Panther doesn't succeed with the takedown and Edwards counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Panther can't keep his opponent in guard - Edwards advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Edwards passes the guard and advances to mount! Edwards looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Edwards is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Edwards extends the arm and Panther is forced to tap!
