Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lee Dae Chung (ranked 8522 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yasubei Shimizu (ranked 8914 p4p, 0 weight class). Yasubei Shimizu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lee Dae Chung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yasubei Shimizu!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chung clinches.
Shimizu is trying to pull guard but Chung turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Shimizu drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chung gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Shimizu can't find room to land a body shot as Chung controls the action.
Chung taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Shimizu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chung tries to clinch but Shimizu is having none of it.
Shimizu shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lee Dae Chung has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yasubei Shimizu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chung moves out of range of the body kick.
Chung moves in looking to clinch but Shimizu pushes him off.
Shimizu tries to counter with a clinch but Chung shakes him off and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chung.
Horrible takedown attempt by Shimizu or perhaps it was just good defense by Chung, which made it look bad.

Shimizu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Chung misses with a combination

and Shimizu holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Chung ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chung no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Chung seems keen to control Shimizu's posture.
Chung tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shimizu stops Chung from standing up.
Chung bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shimizu's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chung has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Shimizu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chung. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chung is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chung's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Chung decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Chung bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chung throws a sloppy head kick and Shimizu moves out of range easily.
Chung tries to clinch up but Shimizu circles away and keeps his distance.
Shimizu lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Shimizu throws a head kick that misses.
Shimizu fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Chung checks it well.
A combination from Shimizu does no damage.
Chung appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Chung is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shimizu sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Chung closes the distance and pushes Shimizu back into the cage.

Chung is trying to pull guard but Shimizu has him pressed against the cage.

Chung's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chung fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shimizu avoids it really well and circles away.
Shimizu is looking for the big counter here.
Chung misses with a takedown attempt - Shimizu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chung tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shimizu paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chung lands with a slapping head kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by Shimizu or perhaps it was just good defense by Chung, which made it look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Chung tries to clinch there but Shimizu circles away.

Shimizu rushes Chung and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Chung has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shimizu is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Shimizu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shimizu scores with a head kick.
Chung fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Shimizu shoots in for a takedown but Chung shows good takedown defense.
Chung seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Yasubei Shimizu seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shimizu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chung pinned against the cage. Chung gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Chung wants the takedown. Shimizu is fighting it off but Chung persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shimizu's guard against the cage.

Chung stands and steps away. Shimizu gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Chung slaps away a takedown attempt from Shimizu, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Chung closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Chung lands a hook to the side of the head.
Shimizu goes for a takedown in the clinch but Chung prevents it.
Shimizu looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Shimizu is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Chung gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shimizu is breathing heavily.
Shimizu can't break the clinch.

Chung breaks from the clinch.
Shimizu lunges at Chung with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Chung's hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chung tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Shimizu defends well and Chung ends up having to push Shimizu into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Shimizu forces Chung back against the cage and clinches.
Shimizu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Shimizu avoiding damage as Chung throws knees to the body.

Chung pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chung checks the leg kick nicely there.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Shimizu. Chung shrugs it off though.
Shimizu misses with a head kick.
Chung lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Chung looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shimizu is fending him off so far but Chung persists. Nope, Shimizu circles away and we're back to standing.

Shimizu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shimizu wants to get back to his feet but Chung passes into half guard.

Chung looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Chung is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Chung jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shimizu manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Chung is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shimizu will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Chung decides to stand up, so the ref orders Shimizu to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chung throws a poor cross that misses

and Shimizu moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lee Dae Chung will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Chung tries to keep at a distance but Shimizu has taken the fight into the clinch.

Shimizu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shimizu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chung tries to avoid it but Shimizu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chung to the ground. Chung escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chung went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Chung dives in for a single leg takedown but Shimizu sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lee Dae Chung is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chung is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shimizu sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Shimizu throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chung is defended easily by Shimizu.

Chung with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Chung seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shimizu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chung blocks a head kick by Shimizu.
Chung fails with the takedown
and Shimizu counters with a stiff right hand.

Chung shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chung is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shimizu sees it coming and defends easily.
Shimizu is looking to improve his position.
Chung prevents Shimizu from standing back up.
Still in half guard, Chung seems content to control.
Lee Dae Chung overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Chung seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shimizu for as long as he can get away with.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Shimizu has a hand on Chung's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Chung takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chung controlling from the full mount.

Chung working for a submission but Shimizu is keeping him at bay.

Yasubei Shimizu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lee Dae Chung is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chung controlling the pace for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lee Dae Chung.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chung, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
